We have two new guest designers at the O this week!
First, please welcome Crafty Buttons Designs.
Let’s get to know the Buttons a little better.
If you could be any character in fiction whom would you be?
Hands down, Alice from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I would love to visit a world where flowers talk and you could go down a size or two just by drinking from a small glass bottle!
What famous location would you like to visit?
I know it’s so very cliche but one day I will get myself to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I have been obsessed with Paris and French culture since I was little and saw Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. I took French classes for years and my other favorite movie is Amelie. Plus, I have an auto-immune disease which makes travel and walking rough so it’s like a life goal now. I will get there someday!
What makes you giggle?
When my girls (ages 3 and 5) walk around singing music lyrics out of context like to Katy Perry songs.
Where do you get your inspiration when designing a digital product?
Everywhere and anywhere really. I recently watched Titanic, for the millionth time and then created an entire line of items like Grandma’s Attic, tattered lace alpha, lace bits etc. I re-fell in love with all of the fashion form the movie. I also get inspired by music I listen to, famous art(can you guess which famous painting inspired me to create my new Midnight Madness items?) My kids inspire me as well. When my kid goes through a phase(fairies, princesses, whales, etc) I usually create something to go along with it.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Jennifer Lawrence as a younger me since I was a bit like her character in Silver Linings Playbook and she did a brilliant job.
What is your favorite color and why?
Purple, apparently since I was a toddler. I love very deep/royal purples. You can expect to see an all purples line from me in the future for sure! I’m not sure exactly why it’s my favorite but it’s just so fabulous, I love anything purple!
How would you describe your style? Now describe it to a 5-year-old.
My style is modern themes done in a way which appeals to traditional scrappers as well as modern scrappers and journalers with an artsy edge. I just described it to my 5 year old daughter as “Mommy makes cute and fun stuff so other people can make art on their own computers and she uses artsy styles and cool old pictures.”
Sweet or salty? Wine or chocolate? Beach or ski vacation? Coffee or tea?
Salty & Sweet like chocolate covered pretzels or salty caramels, Chocolate all the way although I do enjoy red wine every once in a while, Beach vacation but only somewhere it’s not too hot like Hawaii, Tea Early Grey w/ a little milk and vanilla.
What do you see as the future of digital scrapbooking?
I see digital scrapbooking as really on the cusp of a big change. I think scrapbooking in general is shifting form the more old fashioned/traditional pastels and chipboard illustrations with family photos laid out in plain frames to more modern themes and colorful patterns with a grungy/painted style and photos of real items or vintage bits as accents and not every page needs photos.
How did you find your way to Oscraps?
I was on another digital scrap site before this with Paula Kesserling and follow her on Facebook so when I saw that she found a new digital scrap home, I just had to check it out and fell in love with Oscraps!
