Default Posting Image Size

Morning....I realize I have asked this before, but I continue to struggle with posting images. I receive the message "image exceeds limits". I then start re-sizing, which isn't good. Could anyone offer me the size and resolution they make their canvas upon starting a new project. Or any comments/thoughts that would be helpful. I am quite stuck.

Thanks, Kate

Here is a tutorial that's quick and easy on resizing to the Oscraps Gallery:

I'm late saying thank you, I am most appreciative of your reply's......today tried to post after reading tutorials....I am still receiving Image Exceeds Limits. I am down to 200x200 px,
resolution 72.... I began with a canvas size of 600x600, went to 400x400 now down to 200x200. I took a screen shot and posted it on my blog....not sure this is okay, but not sure how else to post a screen shot. Most appreciative for any thoughts! Kate

Are you starting out making a 12X12 inch page? When you are ready to save it do you flatten it first? Then change it to 72 pixels first before changing the dimensions to 600X600? If my page is still too big then that is when I save it for Web this should work.

Will you please email me your original image so I can see if I can tell what's going on?

Since the physical size, i.e. pixels, and quality can both be adjusted with Save for Web, why not just use that option? (I rarely use PSE and don't have Photoshop so I'm wondering if there is a special reason for not using this "one stop shop" approach?
