Stef-
The Sookie Stackhouse books are so much fun- Now that she is on #12 (IIRC) they are getting more "routine" but still quick, fun books. With everything going on in your life right now, I would highly recommend them as a nice easy to read, get away from it all book series.

I liked the first 2 Outlanders, meh with the 2nd and struggled with the 4th and felt like I was never going to finish it.

agree with Chris, the sookie books are really good. around number 7 or 8 it started getting a little forced in my opinion, but still i read them all

i read the Gabaldon series years ago. and again, agree with Chris on this one too.

I agree about Gabaldon series - I'm struggling with book 3. Think I'll leave #4 for another time

Back to Game of Thrones - are the books worth reading - think I'm getting bogged down in Roman times.

It's amazing tho the author's interpretation of early ages - almost fantasy - especially the Jean Auel series Valley of the Mammoth Hunters. I realise the books have been around some time.

I've just downloaded a Kristen Hannah "Magic Hour" for change of pace!!

So opinions please on Game of Thrones?

I absolutely LOVED the first book of Gabaldon's. But I didn't even finish the 2nd. It was a couple of years ago ... maybe I should give it another try?

Another great series is the Stephanie Plum series (Janet Evanovich). They often have me laughing out loud, especially at Lula and Grandma's antics. Did anyone see the movie (One for the Money)? I want to see it, but I am nervous. Lol. I liked the books so much I am trying to brace for disappointment with the movie, just in case.

Oh, I didn't know they've made a movie of it. I love the Stephanie Plum books. Grandma is my favorite - I want to be like her when I get older

They made a movie of the first one. If it is anything like the books, they should do all of them! I never heard whether or not it was good, though...

LOVE Stephanie Plum!!!!

And, yes, i saw the movie. It was pretty good. I think if you are a fan of the books, it's fun to "see" it. If you aren't a fan of the books, you'd probably think it was kinda lame. They did 'tone down' a certain aspect of the book that I think really made the movie a bit weak, but overall, still thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
