Default Challenge #3 – Webspiration January 2016

Last November, I changed the format of this challenge slightly and got some really great feedback from you. Thank you so much for that, since these challenges are about *you.*This challenge is going to work on a similar premise. You get to choose which photo you would like as your inspiration and then one of the two palettes. When you choose your photo, your inspiration can be based on colors, textures, shapes, subject matter and so forth. The color palette you use must be as close as possible to one of the palettes shown. You can use additional colors on your page, but the page must be scrapped using predominantly one of the palettes.

As I tend to do, I struggled a bit with this one. I was trying to scrap a more traditional/photo focused page and it just wasn't doing it for me. Then I threw out that page and started over. I used this as an opportunity to play with blending modes and masking. I used the image of the trees for the subject inspiration and scrapped it using the blue/grey color palette.

If you need a bit of help to get you started, here are some examples by the Cheery-O's

By me:

Beautiful pages by the Cheerios... So let me get this straight ... I only have to choose a color palette, I do not have to scrap the photo it was made from... I can use my own photos??? BTW Chris, your page in forum #2 was not clickable... Love both palettes and the winter scenes, but we do not have any of that white stuff out here...

Yes, you don't use the photo from the palette. Grab inspiration from one of the 2 photos- either the trees or the staircase. You can scrap whatever you like from that photo. It could be a photo of trees/leaves/a path/anything outdoors, if you chose the first photo. If you like the indoors/staircase photo, it could be a photo of kids/g-kids on stairs, it could be a scene from your living room, the chandelier or artwork on the walls.
Then after you pick a photo, then use one of the two color palettes to scrap it.

Does that make more sense?
I am not sure what link you mean that isn't clickable? let me know and I will fix that up.

If anyone else has questions, please ask!

Glad I asked... I had missed understanding the part about taking something from the photo also... It was the page you posted for Challenge 2... I was going through the challenges in proper order, and it was the one before this challenge which I believe is challenge 3... thought you would want to know since it is a conversation you and I have had... If you can't find it, I'll go double check and be more specific...

Glad that I was able to clear that up for you! Sometimes things make sense inside of my head that don't translate into the real world

I will go and check that link for Ch. #2 , thanks for the heads up!
