Default Challenge 2 - Creative Techniques

Hello to everyone, another new month and another new challenge!!!! As you will have seen our challenges are changing up a bit, so while your favourites aren't disappearing they will be rotated so that every month you will have something different to work with!!

So this month I am here with Creative Techniques and this month we are doing a PHOTO BLEND but we are going to use the Pattern Selection Mask and the Gradient Tool to create this photo.

Now we have done this in the past but using different techiques. I really think using the Pattern Selection is cool so I hope you will try it out if you haven't done so before.

For all NON Elements users, the same rules apply. I will accept a page you have done using similiar techniques in your program, BUT YOU NEED TO TELL me in the thread just what you did!

Okay, here we go, firstly, this is the finished layout:

On with the tutorial:

There are plenty of variations you could try as well, but you would need to do this right at the beginning.
In this example below I changed the background photo to black and white and put a texture on it before I started Step 1.
Play around and see where your creative urges will take you!!

Variation example:

Can't wait to see your pages!!!

RULES:
Scrap about anything you like, NEED to use the technique shown above (or similar if you don't use Elements software program).
You must use 80% OSCRAPS products
Your page must be placed in the Number 2 Challenge Gallery by midnight PST Sunday 30th September and linked back to this thread
YOU REALLY MUST HAVE FUN!!!!

Remember to update your post in the monthly Tracking Thread to receive your credit for this challenge HERE

This was so fun to do! I do this a lot with fantasy backgrounds but never used the technique on normal photos.

Here's mine:

Marie,

Any chance you could give a little advice on how you do this to a clueless PSP user?
