Challenge #4 Famous Works - May 2017

I love having the opportunity to host the Famous Works challenge this month. It has become one of my favorite challenges. For this month's challenge, we are going to focus on photography. I think this is a very fitting challenge for a bunch of scrapbookers. :O)

You have two options with this challenge. One challenge is to find a public domain image of a photograph that inspires you and scrap that photo. Two good places to look for public domain photographs are the website for The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Wikimedia Commons. You might also try doing a Google search for your favorite photographer and the term "public domain". I did this for Ansel Adams and found that through a joint endeavor of Wikimedia and the National Archives, there are over 200 public domain images of Ansel Adams work on Wikimedia Commons.

Your second option is to use one of your own photos and use it in a way that is inspired by your favorite photographer. A couple of examples of this would be turning a nature photo you took to black and white if you an Ansel Adams fan or to scrap a very old family history photo if you are lucky enough to have any. (You'll notice on The Met website there are a lot of photographs of individuals.)

When you post your layout, please share the photographer that inspired you in the description of the layout.

Lest you think I am letting you get away without a little extra requirement, don't leave quite yet. Because this is a challenge about famous artworks, I want you to include either paint or scribbles on the page. It doesn't have to be a lot, but I do have to be able to find it. :O)

To help you get started, here's some inspiration from our wonderful Cheery-Os.

* Create a layout that includes a public domain photo from a famous photographer or your own photo inspired by a famous photographer and include either paint or scribbles on the page.
* You must use 80% Oscraps products.
* Your page must be posted in the Challenge 4 Gallery by the end of the month and linked back to this thread.
* You must update the monthly tracking thread to be eligible for your coupon.

I look forward to seeing what y'all create!!

It's difficult to say that I have a favorite photographers, because I couldn't recognize authors of some art work like with the famous painters or music, even when I often attend photography expositions. The only name that came on my mind on first touch for this challenge is Miki Asai. She is magnificent macro photographer of the big things in the life. And I was amazed to find all this so well matched parts at new collab "JOY" and with little help from Joanne Brisebois.

I chose a photograph by contemporary Canadian photographer Paul Jarvis and created an ATC for this challenge.

Strolling on internet to find a photographer in the public domain, I found a lot of photos of Eugène ATGET, ( 1857 - 1927) a French photographer known for his documentary work. He lived in Paris, and I found a lot of trees, doors, windows, exterieurs etc I liked.

Then I saw this photo of a fountain ( sculpture) made in 1921. It looked familiair to me and after searching I found a photo I made myself some years ago in San Sebastian ( North of Spain). Very amazing, but it is a very similar sculpture!! So I made my layout with this photo.

Being a lover of photography, this challenge was right up my alley!! I have certain photographers that I admire, but I thought it would be interesting to search for someone I had never heard of before and I found Benjamin Brecknell Turned. I like him because he photographs mainly the same things that I do----trees and architecture.

Here are the two photos that I drew my inspiration from:

and here is my layout:

Y'all are creating awesome layouts!

caapmun 05-29-2017 04:56 AM

I love the photos of Petra Fischer - (Pezibear on Pixabay). A lot of scrapbookers use her photos for their layouts - I particularly like her nature photos.
