View Full Version : January Junk Drawer

It is January, and that means it is time for new plans.
Lots of us want to start doing things differently, like going to a gym, eat less and healthier.
Those are perfect ways to start the new year.
I would like to see if I can finally finish some art journal projects, or do some hybrid scrapping. Or just use some of my stash in any way at all.

I collect lots of paper stuff, just because it is so perfect to use for art journaling, but after the collecting part I tend to forget to use it.

This is a photo of one of my Junk Drawers and I am challenging myself to create something with it in January. It is filled with cards from memory games,
quartet, play money, lists, in all sorts and sizes.
I don't know yet what to do with it, but I will be back showing you what I made.

Now to make it more interesting,
who is brave enough to show the contents of their junk drawer in here, yes, photo please,
and who wants to play along and create something hybrid/art journal this month. It is just for fun, no stress.

If you are lucky enough to not have a (or more) junk drawers, we have a whole category of printables in the store,
from completed printable products (journal papers, just print and add your private journaling) to printable sheets to cut and glue togheter.
You can find the printables here: https://www.oscraps.com/shop/Printables-Wall-Art/?sort=&objects_per_page=50

OOOhhhhhh what a lovely Junk Drawer Diane! I once had a room that looked like that!!!! but I virtually gave everything away when we moved and the stuff I kept is in a box, sitting in storage! I would love to do something hybrid, itching to do something in fact, but will have to wait until we buy a new house and I have a room to unpack my junk in!!

So while I can't join in I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see what you come up with Diane and anyone else that wants to join in!!!! Fabulous idea!

and grabbed a magazine, called flow,
it is a magazine for paper lovers!

they have papers and backgrounds, posters and inspiration!

the blue paper comes from the magazine and I will use it as my background.

from the memory cards I am removing some layers, the cards are very thick cardboard.

and now I am waiting for inspiration!

next step, I used gesso, 2 paints, brush, punchinella, old member card and a brick stamp

01-11-2019, 07:39 AM
I used the brush to ink/paint the edges
and with the punchinella I made the bubbly stamps.

the brick stamp came in the mail this week,
complete surprise since I ordered it last april!!

next step: think on how to finish

Very cool Diane!! Love it! I did a few AJ/mixed media canvas before Christmas as little gifts to my family here are a couple that I did.
I used some scrapbook paper that I had lying around and then make my own texture paste and used some stencils that I have. Dollar Store flowers and paint and gesso. Old jewelry or whatever I can find around the house. I do go to the Thrift Stores some days to see if I can find some kind of treasures too LOL.

oh wow! Diane and Trudy, they are fabulous!

Diane, love those stamps and how cool to get the brick stamp out of the blue like that! :)

Trudy, love the first one with the creamy whites and creams......... very elegant looking! and the traditional colours in the second one are wonderful too! What lovely gifts they would have made!

Now I am really hankering for the crafty stuff I did manage to bring with me but I wouldn't even know which box to look in first, still loaded in the back of the truck! Guess I will have to wait until we have a house and I can unpack everything, it will be like Christmas morning for me I am sure! lol!

Thriftstores, i just love them! All the stuff they have you think you can use! You know you can use, sometimes i should just not go in.

Thudy love your cards, esp the great effect on the lettering!
