Oh, hello O Fairy! Nice to see you again! Any Irish in you? Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all!

So on a question:
My first name actually is Aleksandra with 'k' and 's', because that is Cyrillic alphabets and I signed here on March 2015. I came for the Birthday party, but actually girls from one competition which unfortunately not exist anymore, invited me. And I stayed, because it was love from first post :flypig: .

Good evening O Birthday Fairy! So nice to see you again...

This question has been asked in the past because I remember bugging Vicki for the date.... but of course have long since forgotten it! So I knew I had participated in the 7th birthday Celebration so searched my order history from a year before that to after that time period, and as far as I can see, I joined in September 2011.... and I am Liz!!!!!

Thank you Fairy!

I tend to scrap in the afternoons. I have two young boys who still nap, so that's my "peace and quiet" time. I cannot leave the house during that time, and it's best to keep the noise down, so scrapping it is!

#2: I scrap in afternoon, typically. Some days the LO just seems to flow, other days I spend forever and it will take me days to get it right.

#3: I live is a semi-rural town in Northern New Jersey. I grew up in the corporate center of NJ where *everything* was minutes away. Now it takes me 40 minutes to get just about anywhere LOL 23 years later and I am still not used to it. I looked through my gallery to see if I have any Los but I gave up after 10 pages- 99% of my LOs are of my pets, .5% are my kids, and the last .5% are miscellaneous things.

I currently live in Spring Hill, Florida, about 45 miles north of Tampa. It's a medium sized city with a small town flavor. Home of manatees and mermaids.
I grew up in rural western New York State. A very small town with one street, no traffic light, and everyone knows everyone. My dad's ancestors settled there after immigrating from England and helped up the town.
With few job opportunities in my area, after college I moved to the big city - Cleveland, Ohio. A very exciting place after small town life. I lived there 35 years until retiring and seeking warmer weather.

So far today I have done a ton of customer service (sale weekend :), some designing, out to breakfast with the hubby, shopping at Sam's so we can food prep for our lunches for the week, formed hamburger patties for him to grill later and made low carb meatballs and I'm waiting for them to cool so I can pop them in freezer bags and freeze for quick grab and go meals anytime.

I just love seeing all these photos of where people live. I think we sometimes forget the beauty of our every day environments until we see other peoples photos of them. Does that make sense?Totally! I live in the mountains and walking distance to a large lake, and not even 10 minutes from the NJ Botanical Gardens. I forget that tourists actually come here (most of us think that the town kind of stinks! hahah

Yes, it was very, very bad. Three schools were hit (my son's included) while they were still there. Fortunately there was only 1 injury in my son's school - it hit the back and not directly. It was only a mile from our home and we could hear it.

It must have been terrifying. It can get pretty scary here during hurricane season, but at least we are forewarned. Tornados are rare here, thank goodness.

Btw, I live in Cape Coral, Florida. It's located 1 1/2 hours south of Sarasota, Florida and about the same distance from Naples, Florida. We are on the other side of the Caloosahatchee bridge (West) of Ft. Myers, Florida. In other words, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. LOL

I don't have to cook much today:
My husband took my son camping last week. He had prepared a bolognaise to take with them to make dinner easier... and he forgot the container in the fridge! (along with eggs for breakfast and toothbrushes, etc). So the box went straight in the freezer and we're having that bolognaise for dinner tonight!

Argh!! The bane of my existence! I wake up stressing over what to cook for dinner almost every day of the week.
True story: One time a year or so ago, Caitlyn (my DD) asked me what we were having for dinner and I burst into tears. I had no idea. LOL

But tonight:
4 - What are you going to cook for dinner?
I am not cooking dinner- I bought the ingredients today and my hubs is making homemade pizza! yippeee!!!!

Felis, how nice you have someone to do all the cooking! Homemade potato schnitzel!

Chris, yummmm, pizza!

I have been making dinner for over 40 years. My mother worked and she wanted to come home to a hot meal. There were exceptions for really hot days in the summer, when we could have sandwiches. My sister and I were given an "allowance" to go grocery shopping once a week. Now, I walk to the store every day. It's good exercise and while I'm walking I try to figure out what to have. I've used some ideas from the internet but still looking for a great (simple) homemade mac & cheese recipe.

#2: with an almost fulltime job, I mostly scrap in the evenings or when possible in the weekend.

#3: I'm living in a really smal village in the countryside, nearby Rouen, in Normandie, France. Famous for his Cathedral, painted several times by Claude Monet.

Of course, Degas student and probably lover. She have a beautiful works too, but for me is too much influenced from his style. Or maybe he is influenced by her ideas, I think it's wrong perception that women are been influenced, yes they are been student, but that's not necessary mean that they aren't brought the fresh ideas into the men style. I know that Cassatt, Degas and Corot are worked together on magazine.

I'm a freelancer, so I have chunks of time to play. But I usually play late at night. I've been a night owl since birth, I think. Early mornings are not my friend. When I do have to get up early, major coffee infusions are needed.

I've never had Sambuca either.... too bad we don't live closer....

Sambuca is described as an Anise flavored liquor...meaning it tastes somewhat like black licorice in case you are unfamiliar with Anise. I know it doesn't sound like a flavor which would go with coffee, but somehow, in espresso, it does. Of course Frangelico (hazelnut flavor) isn't too shabby in espresso either.

Unfortunately for me, as I've gotten older my caffeine tolerance has gone way down, so I rarely have espresso any more and when I do, one cup is my limit or I'm awake all night. :(

https://media.giphy.com/media/rAF9ywo9nX9uw/giphy.gif

I had to really laugh at this Vicki. Learning to clean as I go is something I have struggled with for years. I can do it somewhat now, but it only works for me because now I have a dishwasher. Years ago, after cooking a meal my kitchen always looked as if someone had set of a bomb in there. I must admit that "cleaning as you go" is much better than what I did for years.

I think "cleaning as you go" is a skill that some learned at their Mother's knee, but my mother worked full-time and so she cooked in advance (as I still do) when I was asleep. So...except for one home-ec class, I'm pretty much self-taught when it comes to cooking.

I've never understood the point of putting coffee liqueur in coffee???? Is it just for the alcohol?

Why not just drink the coffee liquor and forget the real coffee... actually Mexican coffee is good... made with coffee, and tequila and coffee liquor I think , with whipped cream on top....

Doesn't appeal to me. For one thing, if I'm going to add a liqueur to coffee, I want to be able to actually taste it (does tequila have a flavor?) and I don't much care for whipped cream on top of coffee...now on top of hot chocolate, well, that's a different thing entirely.

I do like Irish Coffee. When properly made, the cream is gently floated on top, not whipped, and you need to use a good Irish whiskey such as Tullamore Dew.

Well someday when you are feeling adventurous give it a try... I was introduced to it a long time ago by a guy I was dating and order it to this day... I like it... My go to is Kahlua and cream... straight liquor would be rum.... I also like Cosmopolitans...

I'm afraid that both coffee and hard liquor are two items that aren't exactly part of my regular regime any more. I drink wine occasionally when we go out and during the holidays we usually enjoy either Bailey's Irish Cream (straight up) or homemade low calorie eggnog spiked with brandy or rum...and that's it. In the a.m. I have a very large (12oz) cup of coffee, and don't drink any more coffee during the day. My metabolism has changed radically as I've aged.

Add to that the fact that I've suddenly had two very painful flareups of Osteoarthritis in the past 6 months, and I have to be very careful what I eat and drink. Alcohol as you can imagine, is not on the list of "Good" things.

Rose, where do you live...somewhere in Europe or Australia I'm guessing based on your use of the term "Holiday". Those of use who live in The States use the term "vacation".

Whenever we can take a short "Holiday" (:D ) my husband and I love to visit public gardens and parks...and of course there I am snapping away. Fortunately, he is a very patient man.

Question 3

OK... Lets see if this works... I live in Redding CA and as said previously it is almost impossible to photograph our town in an over all view that shows anything of interest... This image was taken by a friend of mine, from one of the few places where some of the city can be seen... In the foreground is our Sundial Bridge which I have scrapped several times over... Yah!!! It worked... Thank you Tinypic! As you can see the terrain is very flat... The Sundial Bridge is a big tourist attraction, and we are surrounded by lakes and mountains that are very popular... about 1.5 hours south of the Oregon border, we have Lake Shasta (houseboating and fishing, etc) , Shasta Dam and Mt. Shasta, and headed west there is the beautiful Whiskeytown Lake where sail boating is popular... it is a sports persons version of heaven.... Redding is an old town with a lot of history....

Good morning to all of you chatty O-Zies!

Just to try and keep up with you all-- I don't really put anything in my coffee other than a splash of half and half. I drink way too much coffee, but my cut-off is 2 pm or I will never fall asleep.
I hate anything licorice flavored and cannot stand the taste or smell of Sambuca. But I do enjoy Baileys and Kahlua.

I would love to take pictures of my gardens and flowers and nature but we have been so cold and snowy this winter in the Mid-Atlantic that I am starting to feel like I will never see anything green again.

Yes, I think it's 14:00 for Diane. Here in France, we write it 14h. We also use the 12-hour clock more "informally", so at 4 PM we can say it's 4h ("quatre heures") when speakining, but written it will always be 16h. In Mexico we do use AM and PM as you.

My biggest challenge is finding a photo I want to scrap.

OH, this is nice... So glad you are back O Birthday Fairy!!!!

It was SO quiet around here last night... I was totally talking to myself until Elaina showed up...

I wish I could have been involved in the beginning questions when they were posted.... but I was traveling back home from our Spring Birthday Party , which gave me a photo for the Avatar!!!! That said, I commented and posted my replies...

so for #6, I think at the moment finding where I have stashed my supplies... Is my biggest challenge... Long ago I set up an extensive system and that worked for me but got WAY too big... about 3 years ago I started looking seriously at organization programs and quit almost all organization at that time... so it is somewhat of a mess... a month or so ago I bought ACDSee and signed up for a class and have made a small start...Ya!!!! Adryane has offered me a bit of help with it also, but a massive undertaking... probably will not live long enough to get it all organized.

...and while I am chatting away, I want to Thank you for the gift... so consider yourself thanked!!!!

Let see what I missed:
5 - What is your favorite subject in your pages?
In one words Nature.

The long story is that before I scraped flowers, I was obsessed to capture their ephemeral beauty. Then O designers showed me my today's favorite style ~ the art journaling. And after that I become familiar with some lovely O girls and feels enough comfortable to start share personal photos of my kids. So now are often pages about them. I love to scrap old photos, it's gives me feeling that I can live this moment again.

Good morning from the East Coast that has more snow! I need a vacation and I need it to be somewhere warm and sunny. (nope, nothing like that is happening :( )
My mood is just so blah and uninspired and lazy. Normally, this time of year, I start to "wake up" from hibernating. Instead, I am cranky and needing to go and shovel more snow. Bah humbug!

That brings me about to my answer to Question 6 - what’s your biggest challenge digi scrapping?

Being uninspired. Not having photos that I want to scrap. Getting started on a page when all I do is stare at the monitor.

I use styles on almost all of my pages. When I first started, I just clicked on them and was done. Now I go into the layer Modes and play around with them, changing color/beveling/drop shadows. I recently started to unlink them fromt he layer, move the style around until I like where it is, then link it back together.

Not having styles in our software does not mean we don't know what they do!
This is an upsetting comment (not to say insulting, what was also upsetting is to assume everyone can afford PS for what is basically a hobby).
I know what they do, and i know there are so many different ones out there. And i knew that by the look of the preview, these ones could be use as a texture in my software. (Shadow styles, or the glossy ones, with metal rims and such, it would not have been possible to find a workaround for us). If anything, we without PS might actually know better how to do things, because we have to think and find workarounds instead on relying on someone's else work (the designers who sell styles)...
Everytime i see what looks like an interesting style set on sale, i research how i can possibly translate that to my software, and you'll find i'm not the only one doing that! Clearly Felis does to, and all the others i've seen on the challenge thread are experienced scrappers too, so they probably do the same too.
My challenge that day was that noone was around to offer the "tiles" at a reasonable resolution, and at the resolution of the preview (with words and blabla all over it) it was very difficult.
Alright i'm all wound up now, i should not have come by. Eek!
