I found the tutorial over at ArtOlogy with NBK (https://www.facebook.com/groups/NBKDesignartology/?notif_t=group_r2j_approved&notif_id=1501545317479759)

I spent a couple hours playing with this this afternoon, and found that it really depends on the photo you use. I also found that most styles don't work with it. You pretty much have to use watercolor styles. Anyway, I didn't get anything worth keeping (I was using Pixabay photos), but will try it again sometime with one of my own photos. It's not difficult, and gets fun results.

I insert the link, sorry.

You pretty much have to use watercolor styles.

No, as you can see in the video I didnĀ“t use watercolor styles. I used the colors and fill a layer with the color. You just have to play with the blending mode and oppacity. You also can use pattern styles on a photo,or texture styles.
And you can use any photo. It only has to fit in the masks and cover the whole masks. you also can move the mask to fit in the photo

Sorry, Astrid. What I meant, the kind of photo you use makes a difference as to how effective the technique is...as do the blending modes and styles. Your photo was perfect. As I was playing, I was not finding satisfaction with most of the styles, and when using styles, it didn't seem to make any difference what color the layer was filled with...the style trumped the color every time. The watercolor styles worked best for me. I am intrigued by this method, and will give it some more tries. :) Your instruction was very clear and easy to follow.

Sharron, do you know that every layer style also has possibilities to use blendmodi

I mostly use color for Color overlay, pattern overlay and gradient overlay (

A style is a collection of layerstyles

Yes, thanks Nickel. The fun is in the experimenting with all the possibilities. :)

Your instruction was very clear and easy to follow.

Thank you so much.

Another tip, you can also apply a mask on your layer with the style and reduce the stlye effect by erasing some parts.
