Meet Vera Lim of Vera Lim Designs!
What would you like people to know about you, and your family?
I live in beautiful New Zealand with my dear hubby and 2 gorgeous kids.
What do you do in “real” life, when not designing….
Design is my job, so that’s basically what I do, but I love crafting too when time permits and I have just recently started making fabric flowers and would love to make more in the future.
How did you decide to “land” at the O’s? Why guest here?
I have heard lots of good things about the O’s and thought why not try it for myself!
How long have you been designing?
I have been designing for almost 6 years now, and selling for almost 5 years.
How did you get started?
I started when I first found out about digital scrapbooking, I had always designed and used my own papers and elements for my layouts. When I posted at galleries people would comment about how they loved my stuff, asking if I would sell them. When I had to quit working after my daughter was born, selling digital scrapbooking products was the answer to prayers, so that’s how I started.
Where do you get your inspiration?
From magazines, decorating blogs and everything around me…
What are your favorite things to design?
I love making cute epoxy buttons.
What types of things do your kits typically include?
Usually I include around eight to nine papers and some doodles, wordarts, stitches and epoxies.
What do you think sets your style/designs apart from others?
I don’t use any CU products and I include a lot of my own drawings.
Who are your favorite designers? What do you like about their styles?
I have always loved Jen Wilson, her papers are gorgeous. I also love Sausan Designs, her stuff is unique and cool.

This was my first experience with a Vera Lim kit. As someone that DOES like to shop I of course had seen her work around & knew the name, but hadn’t yet purchased a kit to try out. Honestly I don’t think there could have been a better kit for me to experience her designs with.

Just looking at the preview I fell in love with it….I did not know where I start first. She even includes some lovely shadowed versions of the elements (such as the ribbons and flowers). I did not use them on my page…only because I am an extreme “want-to-do-it-myself” kind of person..lol!..yeah! a little OCD…but if I had to do a page in under an hour’s time I would definitely have used the elements that are already shadowed.
I could see myself playing with the papers in this kit with some of my other scrap supplies (still using some of the kit’s elements) just to mix it up a bit. The papers themselves are a work of art.

I’ve really liked and admired Vera Lim for a long time. This is the first opportunity I’ve had to create with one of her kits. It is beautiful. I love the dimensional flowers that are so popular right not and a lot of the fun and creative elements. The papers are fun – many with some of the elements already placed on the paper. This kit does not come with any really solid or light papers – but you could easily use a paper from another kit if you are looking for a more plain item to coordinate.

I love to use soft papers that allow my
photos and stories to shine. This kit does that perfectly. There is a nice combination of gently grunged artsy papers that give any layout a touch of color and interest.

What does the kit look like, you’re wondering? Well, let me tell you, it’s simply scrumptious! I got a free copy of it for my participation, but fortunately, that did not influence my review. I already knew Vera’s designs were awesome before I signed up, so no problems there. LOL

I had so much fun using it and designing my page! This was the first time I have used a kit by Vera Lim. I am loving the pre-shadowed elements because that is the part I always dread. I know I will scrap with this kit again. I am already imagining how to use it with other photos I have that need this color kit!
