I am here today to share with you a wonderful tutorial from Rita on removing unwanted objects from your photos. (This tutorial was originally part of the March 2015 Creative Challenge.) I am certain this is a tutorial again and again.
Step 1: Open the selected photo and use the Lasso Tool to select the object you want to remove from the photo. (In this instance, the boy wearing the striped hoodie.)
Step 2: Right-click on the object selected in the photo and choose the Fill option from the drop-down menu.
You’ll then choose Content-Aware from the Contents Menu and Normal from the Blending Mode menu.
Step 3: Type Control+D (Command+D on the Mac) to remove the selection and you are ready to go.
However, sometimes you are going to find that the photo still need some cleanup after using this tip.
This is where you make use of the Clone Stamp.
To use the Clone Stamp, place the cursor over the area you wish to clone and hit Alt and Left-click on the mouse (Command+Left-Click on the Mac). Then position your cursor over the area you wish to repair and paint as if you were using a paint brush while keeping the Clone Stamp tool selected.
Ready to see the tip in action? Here is a photo by Rita before it was edited.
Here’s the final layout.
Hope you find this tip useful in your next layout! Until next time, don’t forget to document your memories.
(Tip created using Photoshop CS6. It has also been tested in Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop Elements 13.)
