In August of 2007 Joanne Brisebois joined Oscraps! I had the opportunity to interview her and I have thoroughly enjoyed finding out more about Joanne. I know that you will too. He we go!
How long have you been designing?
I received Photoshop Elements 4.0 as a Christmas gift in 2005 and started creating very basic elements and papers pretty much right away.
Were you a scrapper first and then switched to designing?
I had a very brief encounter with paper scrapping that involved creating a short scrapbook/wedding gift for my husband that showcased some of our favorite adventures together. It was a factory bound black paper book I had filled with photos and just a few basic elements, such as photo corners, stickers and my own gel pen doodles. We switched to a digital camera not long after my daughter was born and the idea of scrapbooking continued to interest me. Once I was armed with PSE 4.0 on my computer my scrapping and designing evolved at the same time.
When did you know you wanted to be a designer?
Right away! I liked the ability to customize elements and papers to suit my photos and journaling. I love being creative and I’ve found that designing has really fueled my creative process as a scrapper and vice versa.
What software do you use to design?
Right at this very moment I am using Photoshop Elements 9.0 (a gift from my husband that I wanted to put to good use). Though not software, my paint brushes, paint and scanner run a close second when it comes to designing. I can’t resist creating and playing with new textures and brushes.
Where do you find inspiration to create?
Everywhere! My family, traveling, art, nature, music, photos, novels! I just wish my time to devote to designing was as bountiful as my inspiration lol!
I thought it would be fun to find out about some of Joanne’s favorites. So I asked her…
What is your favorite color?
All shades of blue. I have a lifelong affinity for the ocean.
What is your favorite snack food?
I love snacks, it’s hard to pick just one lol! I’ll officially declare nachos and salsa as my overall favorite, though some days a bag of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans can trump all!
What is your favorite movie?
My long-time favorite movie is Heartburn with Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. I’ve seen it more than a dozen times over my lifetime and still love everything about that movie.
What is your favorite song?
I adore the song “Coming around Again” by Carly Simon from the soundtrack. So inspirational.
I just had to ask Joanne one last question. I find it interesting and I am sure you will too!
What is your favorite product to date and why?
Any of the packs from my Photography Frames series. Frames are so versatile and timeless and can really help photos take center stage in a layout. I like having a variety to choose from in my own scrapping stash. Here are just a few.
If you have never tried any of Joanne’s fabulous Photography Frames you should take this FREE one for a test run! You will be addicted!
I also had to include one of my personal favorites. I am a fan of bundles, and let me tell you this bundle is phenomenal! Oh my word it is filled to the brim and so full of value! Have a look at Olde School and you will see some really great ready to use frames. I LOVE THEM! There are also some really cute chalk doodles as well as headlines (great for titles), rubber stamps, antique ads,, and of course a paper pack. You may purchase these items separately, but the best value is certainly in the bundle. Check this and many other fabulous products out in Joanne’s store. She is offering a 30% discount as part of the birthday Sale-O-bration. Joanne is also giving away not one, but three $10 gifties on her blog.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Now scoot on over to the forum because you are missing out on the birthday festivities.
