With the start of the new year upon us, many of us are thinking back over the past year and ahead to the future. We think back on what we have loved and missed, the events that have impacted us the greatest, and how our lives have changed. Those thoughts hit me when I saw an article with some amazing artistic photos. You can find the whole line of photos here: http://distractify.com/people/same-place-different-time/ Here is a sample of one:
Though the photos in that post focus on dramatic historical events, it got me thinking about the number of places in our lives where memories overlap. I thought about the places in my life where my grandmother, mother, or even I spent as a little girl and how my young son might not realize the shadows of the past that exist in that place. I started thinking about the photos that I could dig out and overlap and immediately began to think about a way to scrapbook those. Now, here I have a confession to make. The sad state of my craft room kept me from digging for older photos, so I stuck with one that I actually planned out, but I have intentions to go back and do more.
So here is my “Old and New” layout.
When we went to Disney World last year, it was our 12 year anniversary. So I planned a picture by the castle to match where my husband and I took it years earlier. The sun was a little bright in our eyes and ultimately, I was a little bit off on the angle, but put in a layout it works perfectly!
So here’s a challenge for you – show me an old and new layout that you come up with! There are lots of ways to take that direction; it doesn’t have to be in a landmark spot. It can be old you and new you, generations together, or something else! Link us up in the comments and/or post in the thread in the forum. And remember…have fun!
