Thank you Lydia

As for a tradition, in my family, we are often playing games during Christmas afternoon until it is again time to eat for dinner!!

I love hearing about everyone's traditions. I love ours but being away from my family makes it harder and they have adjusted along the way. When I was a kid we would have a seafood dinner that always included a chowder/bisque. Then we'd open all the gifts under the tree. Then Santa would come during the night and bring a bigger gift and fill our stockings. Now we do pretty much the same thing but once we go home we'll do the seafood dinner at my parents house then Christmas at home.

My DH's family were always given an extra present on Boxing Day (the 26th) called a Tree Present as it was always small and balanced in the tree. We do this with our own kids now and these small presents make a nice change from the increasing big (and expensive) presents they are getting now as they get older - DD is getting a ipad this year

Our Christmas is pretty quiet. We open our gifts after breakfast then talk to family by phone. Sometimes get in some birding. Dinner in the evening. It was different when my brother's children were small. Then we went to his house Christmas Eve where they (ultimately eight in number, some now grandparents) opened presents. That was joyful! Later we visited in-laws on Christmas Eve but the morning has always been us and sometimes a friend or BIL.

Thanks, Lydia, for the lovely freebie and sale!
