Let’s all get to know Angie a little better…
Angie is a collage and art journaling artist as well as an incredible scrapbook designer. She packs her kits so full of unique and quality embellishments and papers. Her mixed media, altered art style is perfect for expressing yourself through art journaling, doing hybrid projects and even works exceptionally well at adding a little drama to more minimalist styles.

We recently asked you what you all want to know about your favorite designers and Angie has answered five of those questions.
What is your biggest challenge and greatest satisfaction when creating a kit?
I find the biggest challenge is almost always when I begin a new kit. I first choose the color scheme and the mood or theme of the kit, then I almost always get stuck and struggle to move away from the blank canvas and begin creating. It is hard sometimes to find my “groove”, but once I stop overthinking everything and allow myself a moment to be free and just create, things start moving in some sort of a direction. The greatest satisfaction for me is when I see things that other people have created using my designs. It just feels so good to see what beautiful things people are inspired to make and to know that something I created inspired them and sparked their creativity!
Where do you get ideas from? Do you ever take suggestions from other people?
I get my ideas mostly from my daily joys, fears, struggles and life experiences. I try to find ways to express myself in whatever place I am at in the moment, and am always hoping that I can in some way help other people in some way while I am searching and growing within myself. I might occasionally take suggestions from other people, but not usually. The reason I do not usually take suggestions from others is because most of my work is very “feeling based”, so if I can’t connect on a deep level to what I am designing, it can be very difficult for me.
Do you have any other hobbies?
Besides designing, I really love journaling, painting, writing, listening to music and spending time with my husband and three daughters. I am slightly obsessed with watching (and re-watching) The Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, Homeland and Grey’s Anatomy. I enjoy going to the Des Moines Performing Arts Center to see musicals with my girls and especially loved Wicked and RENT!
Do you have any goals for the new year?
I have personally had about three really tough years, so my primary expectation for 2017 is that it is going to be a whole lot better than last year! I have had some significant health issues, so my focus this year and most of my goals for myself involve health, weight, eating habits and self care. I want to work hard and each day do my very best to be the very best person I can be. I want to be more present, more aware, more focused, more vulnerable, more balanced, braver, stronger and healthier!
Where in the world are you?
I live in central Iowa with my husband and 15 year old daughter. We have two beloved furry family members — Oliver the 8 year old dachshund was a puppy mill rescue and Maggie the 3 year old terrier/beagle mix was rescued after being abandoned at a humane society three different times. I also have two daughters who are 20 and 22 years old and live out on their own!
