When picking a kit for this month’s feature, we had a hard time deciding! So many beautiful kits to choose from! I decided to get bright and creative this month. The blog team seems to have a fair balance between artsy styles and classic styles. I thought the fun and bright, bold style of Tracy Martin’s “My Favs” would really push us to create outside of our boxes. Plus, my son loves superheroes, so that didn’t hurt! 🙂
So here is the kit we selected this month:
And here is what the team created with it!!
Like I said, my son LOVES superheroes…Superman especially. So I was drawn to the superhero figures right away. I started to think it would be really fun to capture his favorite items at this stage in his life. It was a great conversation between the two of us and some of the answers surprised me! I had fun picking elements to go with each answer.
Nana Linda says the superheroes got her too! “I was immediately drawn to the superhero figures in this kit. They just reminded me of my little ones and I knew I had a photo that would work with those little elements. All the fun things in this kit took me to the “messy” side of creating.”
Superheroes were a draw for Flor too! “When I saw this kit, the superheros and our visit to Disney California adventure came to my mind. We had a blast with the Incredibles. Love the energy colors of the pages. However, I wanted some movement. I applied some filters and blended the papers.”
The awesome part of this feature is getting to see how differently everyone uses the kit. I LOVE Diane’s page because it really showcases how versatile things can be…even if some of us only see superheroes! Plus, it’s a beautiful page that makes me crave ocean waves and sun! Here’s what she had to say:
“OK, so, I had no idea what I was going to do with this kit. I don’t have kids or super powers But I was determined to work on this on my weekend away (we are not night people, so enjoy being geeks on our laptops and iPads in the evenings). The blue papers were a clue, since we were at very blue Lake Tahoe. And since the theme of the kit is My Favs, well, SUPing is right up there as one of my very favorite things to do. I blended some papers and photos to get a nice blue background, them embellished with some flair, recoloring some of the elements to keep the color scheme on my page. I do love the bits of orange, balanced with the life jacket on the board (which I felt confident enough not to use ). Funny thing…I didn’t really notice the great title until my page was nearly composed…how fitting is that!”
Ona created this adorable page and told us this about her process: “First two words that popped into my head when I saw this kit were, vibrant and fun! I loved the bright happy colours and immediately thought of my nephew’s youngest daughter who is such a funny and mischievous little girl. I knew straight away I had to make a page with this kit just for her!”
Irene said this about creating her page: “When I saw the bold colors of this kit I had to think about the photo that was taken from me at school when I was around 5 years old. I didn’t have any worries then and that’s the feeling this kit is giving me too! No worries!”
Cynthia got to create with this kit when it first came out. Here is the page she made:
This one is from Lilly.
So there you have it. A bright, summery version of 1 Kit – Five (or 8) Ways! Make sure to check out Tracy’s awesome kit and see what you can make with it!
