Welcome back to another edition of 1 Kit – 5 (or so) Ways! We take a beautiful kit form a talented designer and show you several different ways and styles you can create with it.
This month, we are focusing on the Beach Beauties Bundle from Courtney’s Designs. This kit called out to Diane as she lives in California close to the ocean. It’s a great water focused kit, but has lots of blues and grungy elements to it.
Here’s what the team did with it.
Diane was the first to get done with a page…she made several actually because the theme fit well with her vacation photos. She said, “There are just so many wonderful goodies in this kit for beach pages, I could hardly control myself from using everything. I used several papers as frames, and used papers over brushes for interesting effects.”
Trista made one too. She told us, “I knew when I saw this collection that I had the perfect beach photo for it. I dug up the photo and placed it on a blank canvas in PhotoShop. Next I looked through all of the papers and found one that was light enough for using brushes on the background, because I knew I wanted to use the lighthouse as part of the background. After I placed the background paper, I then placed and resized the lighthouse brush. I moved the photo and brush around until I liked where they were placed and then layered several more elements that I liked to complete a beachy scene for my very beachy photo.”
Flor loved the beach theme too. “I love this kit… perfect for beach photos. I didn’t have to tweak the color of my beach photos to make it match the elements. So natural and perfect. Love the brushes and the mix of 3d elements. Playing with the brushes was a huge treat.”
For mine, I wanted to first find a photo that I thought would work! There’s not a lot of beach here in Nebraska! I did find these great photos I took by the lake at our house. It was a windy day and the waves rippling across the lake match the “wild ocean” feeling. I wanted to be careful though to not put too many beach items – like starfish – on it, but the compass matches our geocaching activity we were doing that day and I thought the ship was cool.
Cynthia jumped on the colors of the kit right away. “When I saw the colors in the kit, I knew exactly which photo I wanted to use. The blues and reds match my daughter’s swimsuit and the Caribbean perfectly, and the shells, netting, and paint added the coolest finishing touches. ”
And Vera made us a wonderful photoless page using the brushes.
Trudy made a page with this kit when it came out a while back and it is a beautiful one too! She said, “This photo was not a very good one, but I loved that I got this shot of my granddaughter and my Sister In Law sharing a special moment together!! This kit was perfect for the blending that I had in mind for this not so great photo and blending more than one paper on this page did the trick for me!”
So many beautiful pages with different feelings to them. This will be a perfect kit to scrap your water-loving vacation photos. Check it out at the Oscraps store now!
